Ag Practicum at UH Hilo

CAFNRM aims to developing leaders in agriculture and attaining food sufficiency as we face continuing challenges at the local and global level. The Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR) has approved a project entitled “Agriculture Practicum at UH Hilo” from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. The overarching goal of the agriculture practicum program aims to provide opportunities and learning experience to future leaders in agriculture in order to synthesize, integrate and apply practical skills and knowledge in different hands on activities at CAFRNM.

Specific objectives include:

1) To provide a gateway to the programs at CAFRNM for students in senior year in high school or those who are entering college to different hands-on activities at the CAFRNM Farm in areas of animal and horticulture production.

2) To provide opportunities for current and future students in agriculture earn required learning experience in AG 291 (Directed Studies) course which is a required course in both animal care and management and tropical agroecology programs at UH Hilo.
