DEVELOPING LEADERS IN AGRICULTURE

The College of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Management (CAFNRM) at the University of Hawaii at Hilo is committed not only to increase knowledge and awareness of students enrolled in our programs but also to hone student skills in research and transforming knowledge into actual community projects. It is through these types of experiential learning that we believe we transform students from mere recipients of education to individuals who are educators themselves and leaders who will unravel solutions to current and future demands of the industry in response to the changing landscapes, economics, demographics and climate. We strengthen this commitment as we build upon the experiential learning that we introduced in 2018 and 2019 and with a newly revised B.S. Agriculture program. Hi!ag is an integral part in developing leaders in agriculture and attaining food sufficiency as we face continuing challenges at the local and global level. We acknowledge the support provided by the Alaskan Native-Serving and Native Hawaiian-Serving Institution Education Grants Program of the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture. UH Hilo is one the recipients of the US System 10-campus consortium.
